Building the Future Today

Student workers learn:

• General operations of a credit union
• Valuable work ethics as credit union branch managers, assistant managers, tellers, bookkeepers and auditors

Student savers:

• Open a savings account with no service fee and the initial deposit is only a quarter ($0.25)
• Set a savings goal to work toward throughout the school year.
• Receive prizes for making savings a good habit – a great illustration of how rewarding saving can be
  

Learning for Real Life

High School Level 

• Select a profession and research its typical entry-level salary
• Work with credit union volunteers to make simulated spending decisions about housing, transportation, utilities and entertainment
• Rework the plan if they are over budget or are given an unexpected expense. (i.e. car repair)

Middle School Level

• Mirrors spending decisions teenagers will have as they journey into adulthood.
• The 45-50 minute presentations walks them through recording income and expenses, tracking spending, and evaluating real life choices.
• The action-packed simulation is typically performed over a one-month period.
• Students who participate have given this learning experience a thumbs up!

Lenawee County Scholarships

• TLC offers three $1,000 college scholarships per academic year in Lenawee County.
  
• TLC has partnered with the Lenawee County Education Foundation to facilitate the application process through their online system. Once you register online, applying for the TLC scholarship is easy.
  
• If chosen, you will be invited to a celebratory reception sponsored by the foundation.
